Production at its best
Visalia is located in the most productive agricultural region in the world, attracting the attention of food processors near and far.
Milk, fruit, vegetables and biomass feedstock supplies are plentiful, and the Visalia Industrial Park offers available wastewater capacity necessary for food processing.
California Dairies: Growing in Visalia
The 260,000-square-foot California Dairies plant in Visalia is the single largest powdered milk-producing site in North America.
The company’s core businesses are selling fluid milk products and manufacturing and marketing milk powder and butter. The Visalia operation is the most modern and efficient of any of the six plants in California, with an investment that exceeds $250 million.
The Visalia plant receives 10,000,000 pounds of milk every day. Two dryers, each more than 100 feet tall, are used to produce one million pounds of powder a day for shipment around the globe.
TreeHouse Foods: Transforming flour and salt
At the Visalia plant, flour, water and salt go into the facility and pretzels come out – ready to be exported to Mexico, Canada, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong and other nations around the world.
“Visalia is a great place to raise a family,” says plant manager Ed Desrosiers. “I chose to move to Visalia from the Bay Area after working with several other food companies. This is a great town and a place to be proud of.”
